Frequently asked questions

Do you have a question?

These are the questions we receive most often. If you do not find your answer here, write to us.

How can I become a FePA member?

Becoming a FePA member is simple and makes you a formal part of the federation that defends and protects animal welfare in Puerto Rico. Visit our membership page to see the participation levels and complete your registration online. Active members receive exclusive news, event invitations, and the satisfaction of knowing their sustained support makes our programs possible.

Are donations to FePA tax-deductible?

Yes. The Federación Protectora de Animales de Puerto Rico (FePA) is a nonprofit organization exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the federal Internal Revenue Code and section 1101.01 of the Puerto Rico Internal Revenue Code. Once your donation is complete, you will receive an official receipt by email. If you have questions about your tax situation, we recommend consulting a tax advisor.

How can I bring FePA’s educational programs or talks to my school?

FePA offers two certified educational programs for public and private schools in Puerto Rico:

  • LivingKind, a K-12 humane curriculum for teachers, with certified materials and training included.
  • The Roots, a leadership program for elementary-school students.

To request the program, visit our Education page and complete the form. Our team will contact you to coordinate next steps. Requests are processed per school, not per classroom, and the program is free for participating schools.

How do I report a case of animal cruelty in Puerto Rico?

In Puerto Rico, animal cruelty cases should be reported to the following authorities:

  • Puerto Rico Police, by calling 787-343-2020 or 9-1-1 in an emergency.
  • Municipal Police of your town.

FePA does not carry out direct rescues, but works actively to strengthen animal protection and welfare on the island. If you are not sure which authority to contact, write to us at info@fepapr.org and we will guide you.
